I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations.
―C-3PO introducing himself.[src]

C-3PO (often abbreviated into "Threepio") was a protocol droid, owned by Bail Organa.

Biography[]

Background[]

Threepio was a protocol droid created by Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine during his time there as a slave. During the Clone Wars he served as a protocol droid for Senator Padmé Amidala. Following the fall of the Republic and Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, he was handed off to Bail Organa whom took care of the droid for several years.

Encounter with the Rebels[]

In 5 BBY, Threepio and Artoo accompanied Minister Tua to Garel where he served as a translator for Amda Wabo. Upon their arrival, C-3PO and R2-D2 were present when the Rebels stole crates of T-7 Ion Disruptors for the Empire. During the gunfire against Zeb and the Stormtroopers, he boarded the Ghost with Artoo and journeyed back to Lothal.

In his panic, he contacted the Empire and gave away the Rebel's location. After engaging the Empire, the Rebels returned Threepio and Artoo to Bail Organa.

Pardoning General Syndulla[]

Following Hera Syndulla’s unsanctioned mission to Seatos in 9 ABY to investigate Imperials attempting to bring back the exiled Grand Admiral Thrawn, Threepio interrupted her trial, acting as a messenger for Leia Organa to absolve Hera of responsibility and prevent her from being court martialed by the New Republic.

Personality and Traits[]

C-3PO was known for his polite, fastidious, and worry-prone personality. As a droid, he exhibited much loyalty and commitment to his masters and sought to serve them to his best ability. Throughout his operation life, 3PO was able to work diligently for several masters including Anakin, Padmé Amidala, and Bail. As a protocol droid, 3PO could communicate in over seven million different forms of communication. This allowed him to communicate with computer systems.

Unlike his astromech counterpart R2, 3PO liked to stick to routine and did not respond well to change. When placed in danger, 3PO had a tendency to panic as shown on several occasions; including infiltrating a droid foundry on Geonosis and a mission to steal Imperial disruptors on Lothal. Despite his loyalty and commitment, 3PO was generally unable to lie or to keep secrets due his programming. Despite the droid's talkative nature, he was able to keep Anakin and Padmé's marriage secret. Due to his general inability to keep secrets, Bail arranged for him to receive a memory wipe in order to preserve the secret of Anakin and Padmé's offspring, Luke and Leia.
