Give me the holocron!
―Eighth Brother threatening Ezra Bridger[src]

The Eighth Brother was a Terellian Jango Jumper Inquisitor tasked by Darth Vader to track down the Rebels and capture any surviving Jedi Knights. He was specifically tasked with tracking down the former Sith Lord, Maul.

History[]

Early Life[]

The individual known as the Eighth Brother hailed from planet Terrelia, where he was born about seven years before the Invasion of Naboo. After Darth Sidious, publicly known as Chancellor Palpatine, reorganized the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire and declared himself Emperor, the Brother came into the service of the Inquisitorius. Although not a Sith himself, he was tasked by the Emperor's apprentice, Darth Vader, to hunt down and eliminate any Jedi who survived Order 66. To accomplish this task, he was trained by Vader in the ways of the dark side of the Force and studied the records of the Jedi Temple in order to defeat his enemies.

Meeting with the Dark Lord[]

Following the Grand Inquisitor's death at the hands of the Jedi rebel leader Kanan Jarrus and his Padawan, Ezra Bridger, the Brother and the other Inquisitors saw "new opportunities" to take his place by hunting down the two Jedi and their crew on their VCX-100, called the Ghost. However, while the Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister were given the chance to do so when Darth Vader dispatched them on the Emperor's orders, the Eighth Brother was given the unusual task of hunting down Maul, the former Sith apprentice, whom he referred to as "the Shadow."

Trouble on Malachor[]

After eventually tracking Maul to the Sith temple on Malachor, the Brother unexpectedly found Kanan, Ezra, and Ahsoka Tano. After stalking them for a short time, the Eighth Brother attacked the three rebels but was forced to retreat. After the trio was split up, Ahsoka and Kanan tracked down and captured the Eighth Brother, who was unable to escape due to C1-10P commandeering his TIE Advanced v1. However, the Eighth Brother managed to send a covert signal, which was answered by the Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister, with all three attacking Ahsoka and Kanan. However, the tables were turned on them when Ezra arrived with Maul in tow, the pair of them joining Ahsoka and Kanan and driving the Inquisitors off.

Fearing that Maul had claimed a Sith holocron sought by Darth Vader, the Eighth Brother impulsively set out to hunt down the enemy and reclaim it. He attacked Kanan and Ezra, knocking out the Jedi Knight before turning his attention to the apprentice, only to be driven off by Ahsoka and Maul. Teaming up with the Fifth Brother, he then went after Ahsoka and Kanan while the Seventh Sister went after Ezra and Maul, only for Maul to arrive and kill the Fifth Brother whilst Kanan damaged the Eighth Brother's lightsaber. Over-matched and outnumbered, the Eighth Brother attempted to flee using his lightsaber's spinning blades to slow his descent as he leaped from the temple, only for the weapon to fail and cause him to fall to his death.

The Eighth Brother's TIE Advanced was later stolen by Maul during his escape from the collapsing Sith Temple.

Personality[]

Like the other Inquisitors, the Eighth Brother was fiercely dedicated to the service of the Empire and Darth Vader. He was aggressive to the point that he often charged into action while his fellows hung back to allow him to weaken the enemy. He was also ruthless and cruel, demonstrating a willingness to drag out the terror of an enemy before killing them. However, his impulsive streak proved to be his undoing, as he chose to rely on his damaged lightsaber to escape when faced with battling three skilled enemies at once.

Abilities[]

Like all Inquisitors, the Eighth Brother was Force-sensitive and possessed some skill in the art of wielding a lightsaber design used by all Inquisitors, as well as possessing the same TIE Fighter design employed by his fellows. The Eight Brother typically employed both of his lightsaber's blades in battle, and also employed them in order to fly/glide away from enemies when outmatched. Additionally, his lightsaber could convert into a buzz-saw-like weapon that employed the handle only, with the blades deactivated, but appeared to make it so the saber couldn't fold into the crescent-mode of the standard Inquisitor lightsaber. He also made use of S-Mine Detonators he carried on a bandoleer around his torso, seen when he threw three at his enemies to cover his escape.

His fighting style was somewhat similar to the Seventh Sister's, given his slim and acrobatic build. However, he appeared to have been no more skilled than his fellow Inquisitors in battle, as illustrated by his losses on Malachor.

Trivia[]

  • He was voiced by Robert Daymond Howard.
  • The Eighth Brother was the fourth and final Inquisitor introduced in the series, the only one not to have his face seen prior to his death, and had the shortest presence in the series, dying in the same two-part episode in which he debuted.
  • His death was originally depicted as surviving his fall from the Sith Temple and attempting to flee in his TIE Fighter, only to be killed when the Temple completed its firing sequence.
  • His ranking wasn't revealed in the episode in which he was introduced and perished, similar to how the Grand Inquisitor wasn't distinguished by any other title until after his death.
