I met her once. She was a great Jedi Master; brave, compassionate, disciplined.
Kanan Jarrus, to his apprentice[src]

Luminara Unduli was a Jedi Master, who was among the Jedi that were killed during the rise of the Galactic Empire. Unlike most Jedi, she wasn't immediately killed during Order 66 but arrested.

She was later executed by The Grand Inquisitor. Imperials started rumors of her survival and used it as a ruse to lure active surviving Jedi to their deaths.

Biography[]

Fighting in the Clone Wars[]

Luminara Unduli was a Jedi Master and served the Republic during the Clone Wars, along with her faithful padawan Barriss Offee. She commanded clone troopers and fought in many battles. During the Battle of Kashyyyk, Order 66 was executed, but instead of being executed like the other Jedi, she was arrested. This caused Luminara's fate to remain a mystery.

Yet 14 years after the formation of the Empire, an underground Holonet transmission by Gall Trayvis revealed that she was being held in The Spire prison. It was all a ruse, however; Luminara was dead, her body used as bait to draw surviving Jedi Kanan Jarrus and his apprentice Ezra Bridger into the Inquisitor's clutches.

Luminara Unduli was presumably detained following the execution of Order 66, imprisoned in the Spire by the Inquisitor. Eventually, the Inquisitor executed Luminara in her cell and the recording of this event was programmed to play in the cell continuously via hologram.

Unduli's remains were stored in The Spire, an Imperial prison located on Stygeon Prime. Here, her remains (and their Force emanations) were used by the Empire to lure in Jedi survivors, a secret unknown to even the Stormtroopers.

Luminara Unduli's Death

Luminara's corpse

Yes, I'm afraid Master Luminara died with the Republic. But her bones continue to serve the Empire, luring the last Jedi to their ends.
The Grand Inquisitor[src]

After hearing a HoloNet report from Senator Gall Trayvis, the rebel crew of the Ghost decided to follow up on Luminara's position in The Spire.

The crew's Jedi leader, Kanan Jarrus, and his apprentice, Ezra Bridger, eventually reached Luminara's cell. Kanan immediately sensed something was amiss, and his suspicions were confirmed when Luminara's hologram passed through him, and into a cryogenic chamber that held her skeletal remains. After having fallen into the Empire's trap, Kanan and Ezra were ambushed by The Inquisitor, who pursued the duo out of Luminara's cell. The rebels managed to escape despite the ambush, however, and vowed to spread the word of Luminara's death to prevent any more Jedi from falling into the trap as well as to ensure her legacy was not corrupted.

  • Luminara Unduli's fate was originally going to be killed by Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith, however, along with Shaak Ti's death scene during Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith, it was cut out.
