Kanan Jarrus. You've crawled out of hiding. At last.
―Seventh Sister confronts Kanan Jarrus[src]

The Seventh Sister was a Mirialan Inquisitor tasked by Darth Vader to track down the Rebels and capture any surviving Jedi Knights. She was specifically tasked with eliminating or capturing Ahsoka Tano, as well as her allies, and had several encounters with the rebels before she was finally slain by Maul on Malachor.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

The individual known as the Seventh Sister hailed from the planet Mirial. At some point, she was identified as Force-sensitive and occupied a position in the Jedi Order. After Darth Sidious, publicly known as Chancellor Palpatine, reorganized the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire and declared himself Emperor, the Sister came into the service of the Empire and the Sith after surviving Order 66. Although not a Sith herself, she was tasked by the Emperor's apprentice, Darth Vader, with becoming part of an agency of Dark Jedi called the Inquisitorius in hunting down and eliminating any Jedi who survived Order 66. In order to accomplish this task, she was trained by Vader in the ways of the Dark Side of the Force and studied the records of the Jedi Temple in order to defeat her enemies, accompanied by her ID9 seeker droids on these missions.

Age of the Empire[]

Meeting with the Dark Lord[]

Following the Grand Inquisitor's death at the hands of the Jedi rebel leader Kanan Jarrus and his Padawan, Ezra Bridger, the Sister and the other Inquisitors saw "new opportunities" to take his place by hunting down the two Jedi and their crew on their VCX-100, called the Ghost. She and the Fifth Brother were given the chance to do so when Darth Vader dispatched them on the Emperor's orders after discovering that his former Padawan Ahsoka Tano was a new recruit among them.

Skirmish Aboard the Medical Station[]

Always Two There Are 7

The Seventh Sister approaches Ezra and Sabine on a Republic Medical Station.

The Seventh Sister was ordered to scout an abandoned Republic Medical Station. One of her ID9 Seeker Droids reported seeing a rebel. Meanwhile, another proceeded to knock out C1-10P. As Ezra and Sabine Wren searched the medical station for supplies, they found themselves standing face-to-face with the Seventh Sister. Ezra mistook the Inquisitor for a bounty hunter; she revealed her true nature to the boy by activating her lightsaber. Outmatched, Ezra and Sabine fled, only to run into their attacker's accomplice, the Fifth Brother. The Seventh Sister succeeded in capturing Ezra; she stopped the Fifth Brother from killing the young Jedi so that she could use him as bait to lure out the other rebels.

The Seventh Sister brought Ezra to the medical station's command center to slowly break him by using psychological tactics. Like the Grand Inquisitor before her, the Seventh Sister made efforts to convince Ezra to join the Dark Side, noting that his mentor Kanan had never reached the level of Jedi Knight and was thus ill-qualified to instruct a Padawan. The pair of Inquisitors asked their captive where the other rebels were and what he knew about Ahsoka; as the Seventh Sister continued the interrogation process, the Fifth Brother left to capture Sabine. He succeeded. Ezra and Sabine then made contact with Garazeb Orrelios, who was using the pseudonym "Commander Meiloorun" and told them to rendezvous with him at Bay Six, as well as to keep their "chins up". The Seventh Sister saw her chance to destroy the rebels once and for all.

At Bay Six, Zeb ambushed the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother from aboard the Phantom. The Inquisitors used telekinesis to pull the rebel ship towards them. Sabine started to shoot at the Fifth Brother; as he deflected her shots, the Seventh Sister was almost pulled out into the vacuum of space as the Phantom escaped with the rebels onboard. Realizing she had failed to complete her objective in the presence of another Inquisitor, the Seventh Sister became flustered.

Abducting Children[]

Following their failure to capture the rebels aboard the Republic Medical Station, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother boarded a passenger ship above Chandel to seize a Force-sensitive infant named Alora. They succeeded and killed everyone aboard the ship, save for the child's grandmother, Darja. This act attracted the attention of the Ghost crew and Ahsoka.

The Seventh Sister next traveled with the Fifth Brother to Takobo to capture an Ithorian infant named Pypey. They confronted the child's mother, Oora, and when they learned their target had been sent away in the care of a droid, they smashed all of the furniture in Oora's home.

In the streets of Takobo, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother managed to intercept the droid that had left with Pypey; the child was nowhere in sight, for he had been taken by Zeb. The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother pursued Zeb to a nearby apartment; they entered it only for Ezra to escape with Pypey.

After failing to lure out their quarry, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother faced Kanan and Zeb. The pair of Inquisitors bested the two rebels, who escaped on a speeder. The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother gave chase on a speeder of their own; after another skirmish, the Inquisitors cornered their foes outside the local spaceport.

Seventh Sister in The Future of the Force 6

Ahsoka grabs the Seventh Sister's lightsaber and uses the Force to shut it off.

The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother successfully overpowered Kanan, Ezra, and Zeb once again. However, before the Inquisitors could finish the trio of rebels off, Ahsoka appeared before them. Surprised but delighted by this, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother engaged their former Jedi prey in combat while Ezra, Kanan, and Zeb escaped with Pypey aboard the Phantom. The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother proved to be no match for Ahsoka; the Seventh Sister was flabbergasted when the Togruta grabbed her spinning lightsaber, deactivated it using the Force, and tossed it aside before telekinetically throwing her against a nearby pillar. Ahsoka claimed she had beaten the Seventh Sister, but the Inquisitor laughed maniacally as Imperial reinforcements arrived in the form of Stormtroopers and a few Imperial Troop Transports. While the Seventh Sister intended to capture Ahsoka and please Darth Vader, the rebel commander managed to make a getaway with her comrades and the successfully reclaimed Force-sensitive infants.

Adding insult to injury, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother discovere that the rebels had destroyed their TIE Advanced v1s. The Inquisitors were elated, however, when one of the Seventh Sister's droid "pets" revealed that the enemy was hiding on Garel.

Raid on Garel[]

Legacy8

The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother come face-to-face with Ezra.

Together with Agent Kallus and Admiral Kassius Konstantine, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother attacked the Phoenix Squadron and the Ghost Crew on Garel. The pair of Inquisitors faced Ezra and Kanan in a hangar bay. The Seventh Sister managed to goad Ezra into attacking her, but Kanan shut a blast door that was between them, thus preventing a fight from taking place. The crew then took advantage of this delay and escaped into Garel's atmosphere.

Jedi Temple on Lothal[]

Shroud of Darkness 02

Kanan and Ezra face the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother on Oosalan Mesa.

On the planet Oosalon, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother engaged Kanan and Ezra in a lightsaber duel; overpowered, the Jedi managed to escape their attackers on the back of a Tibidee.

The Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother were able to track Kanan and Ezra to Lothal; via one of the Seventh Sister's seeker droids, they discovered an ancient Jedi Temple on the planet's surface. The pair of Inquisitors used the Force to summon the temple from under the ground; lightsabers at the ready, the duo entered its depths only to be attacked by the manifestations of several Jedi Temple Guards, including one who resembled the Grand Inquisitor.

In the aftermath of this encounter, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother found themselves in the presence of Darth Vader. The Sith Lord coldly stated that the rebels' growing power would be their undoing.

Showdown on Malachor[]

The Seventh Sister was ordered by Darth Vader to travel to Malachor with the Fifth Brother and obtain a Sith holocron from within a Sith temple located beneath the planet's surface. She and her accomplice came to the aid of the Eighth Brother after he was captured by Kanan and Ahsoka; all three Inquisitors were forced to retreat when their opponents were joined by Ezra and his new companion, the former Sith Lord Maul. Having escaped her adversaries, the Seventh Sister dispatched some of her ID9 Seeker Droids to spy on them.

Twilight of the Apprentice 40

The Seventh Sister is rendered helpless by Maul as Ezra prepares to strike her down.

The Seventh Sister later attacked Ezra and Maul as they scaled the Sith temple in an attempt to reach a chamber at its top. The Inquisitor was defeated by Ezra in a brief lightsaber duel; she was then lifted into the air by Maul and overcome with terror when the former Sith Lord ordered Ezra to execute her. The young Jedi could not bring himself to do so, thus Maul eliminated the Seventh Sister himself by throwing his lightsaber at her, cutting off her head and killing her instantly.

Personality and Traits[]

The Seventh Sister is tactically minded, tempering the cruelty exhibited by her fellow Inquisitors with the realization that killing their targets first isn't always the best option. Like the Grand Inquisitor, she seems to enjoy the prospect of converting Ezra to the Dark Side, and kept a tight hold on her emotions, speaking calmly even in the midst of combat, and very rarely lost her temper, though she felt despair of the Jedi being gone personally. The only time she showed fear was just before her death: the Mirialan literally pleaded with Ezra for her life. She attempted to interrogate Ezra using psychological tactics in conjunction with mind tricks, and even threatened that, while she needed him alive, that didn't mean in one piece, clearly threatening dismemberment.

She is like a cat that likes to play with the mouse (her targets) before taking her missions more seriously, as she simply walked after Ezra and Sabine as they ran from her in their first encounter, until she had her ID9 Seekers capture Ezra. She plays any and every angle to break her targets, and is not above complimenting their skills if only to find a chink in their armor which she can exploit, as well as provoke them, prey on any doubts or instill fear. She often engages in flirtatious banter during combat. When Ezra proved unable to strike her down, she smirked at his hesitation (though she was certainly relieved), but screamed in terror as Maul struck the deathblow instead.

Power and Abilities[]

As an Inquisitor, the Seventh Sister is skilled in the use of her lightsaber (both single and double-bladed setting) and in the use of the Dark Side of the Force. She is fond of employing ID9 Seeker Droids to track and attack her targets, which she stored on the back of her armor instead of her lightsaber, which she kept holstered to her hip. Being shorter and much less bulky than the Fifth Brother, she favors an agile and acrobatic fighting style. She has displayed impressive skill in lightsaber combat, being able to defeat Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus, respectively, on several occasions using superior agility and unpredictable attacks, and hold her own reasonably well against Ahsoka Tano. However, her skills are ultimately inferior against Ahsoka, who was a very powerful ex-Jedi with a great deal of experience, and thus was overwhelmed and defeated in their duel. She was also unable to match former Sith Lord Maul.

The Seventh Sister apparently uses mind-tricks in conjunction with psychological interrogation to probe another's mind to glean information or persuade them to cooperate, although a Force-sensitive like Ezra can resist this probing but still feel pain. She possessed great Telekinesis, as she tried to prevent her targets from escaping on the Phantom whilst trying to close hangar doors, but ultimately couldn't perform both simultaneously. She was also able to activate her lighsaber and send it spinning towards Ahsoka Tano in an effort to catch her off guard, and was able to catch it without suffering injury when Ahsoka dodged her strike. She also appears to have some skill as a pilot, given that she utilizes a TIE Advanced v1 as her personal vehicle. The Seventh Sister is also tougher and more durable than she looks, able to recover very quickly from being Force-Pushed into a pillar so hard that it cracked slightly from the impact.

Trivia[]

  • She and the Fifth Brother are the secondary antagonists of Season 2.
  • She was voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
    • Sarah Michelle Gellar didn't get to see her design before she went into the booth to provide her voice.
    • Ironically, Sarah Michelle Gellar's husband, Freddie Prinze, Jr., provides the voice of Kanan Jarrus, one of the main protagonists.
  • Like The Grand Inquisitor, she wielded a double-bladed Lightsaber that can rotate its blades. The only difference was the disc design features markings and two points on each side. Also, while the Grand Inquisitor, Fifth Brother, Eight Brother, and Sixth Brother holster their circular lightsaber disks on their backs, she holstered her lightsaber on her hip - instead using the back-holster space to carry her parrot droids.
  • Although the Seventh Sister has been described as being the partner of the Fifth Brother, she appeared to have been working independently at first, as she was not the Inquisitor dispatched by Darth Vader, and her words to the Fifth Brother "I'm surprised to see you here" imply they were not initially working together. Furthermore, the Fifth Brother invokes that he outranked the Seventh Sister to try to order her around. Hidalgo has stated that with the power vacuum created by the death of the Grand Inquisitor, the other Inquisitors are competing with each other to rise within the organization.
  • Like The Grand Inquisitor, the Seventh Sister appeared to seek Ezra as an apprentice.
  • Like The Grand Inquisitor, she was physically corrupted by the Dark Side, as her eyes have been turned bright yellow with blood red rims.
  • The Seventh Sister is featured alongside Darth Vader in the show Jedi Training Academy at Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
  • Her species and Dark Side affiliation led some fans to speculate that the Seventh Sister was in fact Barriss Offee, but no evidence exists to support the theory.
