Traveling through hyperspace, Commander Sato and Ezra Bridger were on their way to the Del Zennis system to investigate the disappearance of one of their own patrols. So far, Ezra reported nothing out of the ordinary. Just then he sensed a disturbance in The Force and suspected something was about to happen. He was proven right when they were suddenly pulled out of hyperspace and captured by an unknown Imperial vessel. Commander Sato sent out a distress call but was cut short after they suddenly lost power throughout their ship.
Commander Sato’s distress call did get through to the Ghost crew, long enough to inform them about being pulled out of hyperspace. The Rebels were puzzled because they believed it was impossible to pull a ship out of hyperspace. Sabine, however, knew it was possible with the use of gravity wells. When she was still in the Academy, she learned the Empire was developing a new cruiser with gravity well projectors powerful enough to pull a ship out of hyperspace. She suspected the vessel was still in its experimental stages and knew if the Empire followed procedure the tests on this ship would be taking place in remote areas, probably where they lost contact with Commander Sato. Kanan ordered everyone to gear up, as he planned to lead a rescue mission. However, Hera overruled his order and told him he needed to go in with Rex alone. Kanan is reluctant to go with Rex and would rather take Zeb or Sabine, but Hera pointed out that Rex’s ex-military experience would be invaluable in their chance of rescuing Ezra and Commander Sato, and he could impersonate a Stormtrooper. Kanan still refused to work with Rex, but despite his grudge against Clones he went ahead with Hera’s plan for the sake of Ezra. Meanwhile, Ezra and Commander Sato were apprehended and are brought to the bridge where they meet Admiral Brom Titus. Commander Sato tried to convince the Admiral that they were members of the Corporate Alliance, but Admiral Titus saw through his lies and recognized them both as Commander Sato and Ezra Bridger. Admiral Titus knew Agent Kallus would be pleased to hear that he had Ezra, and then ordered his men to secure them.
Back on Garel, Zeb captured two Stormtroopers and Kanan and Rex put on their armor, as they planned to go in undercover. To help them get in, Kanan and Rex took a stolen Imperial shuttle and brought along Chopper, disguised as an Imperial Droid, to help them access terminals. Traveling through hyperspace, Kanan’s plan was to find their people and get them out of Imperial custody, but Rex insisted on disabling the Empire’s new ship as well, as it could become a potential threat to the Rebellion. They soon arrived at Ezra and Commander Sato’s last known position and emerged from hyperspace. They had the Empire’s new ship in sight, and they immediately received a transmission from them. The Imperials informed them that they were in a restricted area, but Rex managed to convince them in granting permission to board by using emergency protocols that he and Commander Cody invented back in the Clone Wars. On the bridge, Admiral Titus informed Agent Kallus about his captives. He was impressed by this news, but warned the Admiral not to underestimate Ezra Bridger and ordered him to have him locked in a secured cell under triple guard.
After landing, Kanan, Rex, and Chopper departed from the shuttle and began their search for their fellow Rebels. Disguised as Imperials, nobody suspected a thing. Accessing a terminal, they learned from Chopper that Ezra was being transferred to a secure cell and decided to go after him first. Down in the detection block, three Stormtroopers were escorting Ezra to his cell. Upon arriving, Ezra created a distraction by using the force to ignite his Lightsaber, which was attached to a Stormtrooper. With the Stormtroopers distracted, Ezra broke free of his captives and overpowered the troopers. Then after locking them in a cell, he spotted two more Stormtroopers coming right for him and immediately used the stun gun on his lightsaber to take them out. But after he spotted Chopper, he realized the two Stormtroopers were actually Kanan and Rex. The two of them were fine but felt a little disoriented after being stung. Ezra tried to cover up what he just did by convincing Kanan and Rex that they were in a big firefight, but Chopper showed them a holographic projection of what actually happened. Kanan was shocked and dismayed that his own apprentice shot them, while Rex just laughed it off. Then before it could become another quarrel, Ezra broke it up and said they still had to find Commander Sato and sabotage the ship. His plan was to split up, Ezra and Chopper would go to the reactor that powers the ship’s gravity well projectors while Kanan and Rex rescued Sato. Kanan denied any splitting up and said they should stay together, rescue Sato and leave, but Rex pointed out that Ezra was right about destroying the ship. It soon became another disagreement between the two, but Ezra broke it up yet again, making himself quite clear that they were going to follow his plan. No more was said and the four of them split up.
Meanwhile, Admiral Titus received word that Ezra had escaped. He gave the order to lock down all levels, and have all the hangar bays secured. He also gave his men permission to kill on sight when they crossed paths with Ezra, not wanting to prove that Agent Kallus was right about underestimating him. The ship was soon on full lock down with Stormtroopers on the lookout for Ezra. Ezra and Chopper soon reached the reactor core for the gravity well projectors, and Chopper already had a plan that involved using Ezra as a distraction. Ezra sneaked into the room without being noticed, but then got spotted by the technicians. He made a run for it as the technicians opened fire on him. With Ezra distracting them, Chopper entered the scene and accessed one of the terminals. He turned off the gravity, making it difficult for Ezra to fight back. Then after some tampering, Chopper restored the gravity, causing everyone floating to fall to their death. Ezra made it safely and the two of them retreated as Stormtroopers enter the scene. Meanwhile, through heavy fire, Kanan and Rex reached the detention cell where the Imperials were holding Commander Sato and his crew. They set them free and made a run for it back to Sato’s ship. More Stormtroopers showed up and began to overpower them. Rex decided to buy the others some time by holding off their pursuers, despite Kanan’s objections. Rex sealed the door and took on the pursuing Stormtroopers single handed, but got stunned and captured.
Rex was brought to Admiral Titus, who showed disappointment about Rex’s alliance with the Rebellion, as he recalled the days when his kind brought peace to the galaxy. He then offered Rex a chance of redemption; surrender all his compatriots and he would offer him immunity and reinstatement at an Imperial Training Academy. But as suspected, Rex refused and Admiral Titus brought up the alternative; an Interrogator Droid programmed to kill him. Through the Force, Kanan could sense Rex’s pain and suffering and decided to go and rescue him while the others continue to make their way back to the ship. With Ezra leading the way, the Rebels got past the attacking Stormtroopers and made it back to their ship.
As Admiral Titus prepared to finish off Rex, Kanan surprised them and saved Rex while the Admiral fled from the fight. Kanan helped Rex run through the corridors, and after ordering Ezra and Sato to launch without them the two made their way to the escape pods. Sato and his crew departed from the Imperial ship, and after picking up Kanan and Rex they prepared for hyperspace jump. Unfortunately, they were caught in the gravity well once again and were being pulled back to the Imperial ship. However, The Imperials were too late to realize that Chopper had rigged their own weapon against them, pulling every ship in sight. The two light cruisers alongside collided with the Admiral’s ship, destroying it in the process. With the gravity well gone, the Rebels were free and escaped. Following their victorious escape, Commander Sato expressed his gratitude to Kanan, Rex, and Ezra for saving him and his crew. Rex also thanked Kanan for saving him, and before going their separate ways they saluted to one another.
