It is said that no traitor escapes the eye of Yularen for long.
Yogar Lyste to Agent Kallus[src]

Wullf Yularen was a male human who served as an Admiral in the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars and later a Colonel in the Galactic Empire's Imperial Security Bureau.

Background[]

Clone Wars[]

Wullf Yularen served as an Admiral during the Clone Wars for the Republic, operating under Jedi General Anakin Skywalker frequently. Yularen, a by-the-book operator, was often frustrated with Skywalker's recklessness.

The Empire[]

Yularen eventually became a Colonel in the Imperial Security Bureau following the reformation of the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, and became rather well known, with Yogar Lyste commenting that "no traitor escapes the keen eye of Yularen." Among his students would be future Agent Kallus, whom he regarded as a star pupil and whose career he kept track of afterwards. Yularen would also work with the Chiss officer Thrawn, putting ISB resources to work to keep him from being drummed out of the Imperial Navy for his radical tactics. Thrawn also proved invaluable in joint operations with the ISB, to the point that Yularen offered the Chiss a position with the organization in the event he was expelled from the navy, commenting that Thrawn "would look good in white."

Yularen was later summoned by then Grand Admiral Thrawn to help ferret out the Rebellion mole known as Fulcrum, during which he was reunited with Kallus. After learning of a recently captured prisoner, Yularen accompanied Thrawn and Governor Arihnda Pryce to interrogate him, only to find his cell empty. With evidence pointing to Lyste, Yularen relocated to the bridge of the Chimaera, and later alerted Pryce as to the arrival of Shuttle TY992, which carried several rebels. Despite their efforts, the rebels escaped, though Lyste was apparently outed as Fulcrum.

However, Yularen confided his doubts as to this development to Thrawn, who revealed that he knew Lyste had been framed. He then revealed that their escaped prisoner was none other than Ezra Bridger, whom Agent Kallus would have been able to identify. Yularen was stunned to learn that Kallus himself was in fact Fulcrum, finding it difficult to believe that his prized pupil would betray the Empire. Thrawn remarked that such expectations were exactly why Kallus had been so effective, and anticipated putting Fulcrum to work for the Empire.

Personality and Traits[]

Even by the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Yularen was regarded by his peers as a crisp, efficient veteran naval officer. Despite his disagreements with the brash and reckless Anakin Skywalker, he held a sacred respect for the chain of command, a trait which made him assist his Jedi General in any way he could.
